CENTRE FOR MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORT THROUGH ART – THALPOS MENTAL HEALTH
In collaboration with the CENTRE FOR THE STUDY OF MODERN CERAMICS
Experiential Drama Therapy and Ceramics Workshop
“Clay Stories: Bringing the Light”
The Mental Health Support Day Center through Art – Thalpos Mental Health is launching its collaboration with the Center for the Study of Modern Ceramics and is implementing the experiential Drama Therapy and Ceramics workshop entitled “Stories from Clay: Bringing the Light” on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, 10:30-13:00, at the Centre for the Study of Modern Ceramics.
The workshop proposes the creative partnership of Dramatherapy and Ceramics, highlighting the symbolic power of clay as a therapeutic medium. Clay, a malleable, earthy material, is transformed through water and fire and functions as a carrier of meaning, emotional expression and internal processing. Through ceramic object-making activities, narrative and theatrical techniques, participants explore the concept of personal strength, mental resilience and creative transformation.
The use of the museum environment for the promotion of mental health incorporates into the therapeutic process the strategies for strengthening the social role of the modern museum and the experiential approach to material culture. Contact with objects and techniques of the traditional art of ceramics is therapeutically framed and developed as a method of mental and social empowerment. The encounter with the roots and intergenerational narratives of the community becomes the starting point for the renegotiation of identity. The experience of the museum as a public space for interaction and dialogue promotes social integration, inclusion and the cultivation of social skills.
The collaboration of the Mental Health Support Day Center through Art – Thalpos Mental Health with the Center for the Study of Modern Ceramics strengthens the connection of therapeutic practice with art and cultural heritage, expanding the methods of intervention in mental health and supporting the participation of the community in creative processes of psychosocial empowerment.
